We offer nutritional counseling and medical nutritional therapy for children, adolescents and adults.

In addition to general nutrition, we offer in-depth services in the areas of eating disorders, sports nutrition, intuitive eating and pediatric, adolescent and adult wellness. We provide general nutritional assessments in addition to extended services for more chronic health conditions.

Tami J. Lyon, mph, rd

Tami J. Lyon is a registered dietitian with 25 years of experience helping individuals of all ages achieve their nutrition and well-being goals.

 

Tami received her bachelor's degree in Dietetics & Food Administration from Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As a clinical dietitian at the UCLA Medical Center, Tami provided individual counseling and patient education classes for the Departments of Internal and Family Medicine, specializing in eating and weight disorders, sports nutrition, and diabetes education. She was the lead dietitian of the Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorders Program at the UCLA Institute of Neuropsychiatry from 1988 to 1992. Tami was a contributing editor of Eating Disorders Review and a diabetes educator from 1988 to 2009.

At the University of California, Berkeley, Health Services, Tami helped develop the Eating Disorders Treatment Team, which provides nutritional, medical, and psychological assistance to students with eating disorders. At UC Berkeley, Tami was the nutrition specialist for student-athletes with eating and weight concerns. In 1998, Tami founded Healthy Living - Nutrition Counseling and Consulting LLC, a group practice to help individuals, families, and groups achieve their dietary and health goals through scientifically based methods.

 

Lorraine Mulvihill, rd

Lorraine Mulvihill is a specialist in eating and weight disorders for children, adolescents and adults.

 

Lorraine's medical care experience in the Bay Area began in 1998 working at Marin General Hospital and for the Marin County WIC Program. After obtaining her degree from the University of California, Davis she completed her dietetic internship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Lorraine has been in private practice providing medical nutrition therapy in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Oakland, and San Francisco since 2003. In addition to her work in private practice, she was the chief clinical dietitian of the Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program at Stanford / Lucile Packard Children's Hospital from 2001-2006. Lorraine was an integral member of the Stanford Children's Pediatric Weight Clinic and was a co-investigator in several studies within the Center for Healthy Weight. She has continued her career at Stanford working with the Adolescent Medicine team and more recently in Pediatric Orthopedics providing nutrition support for individuals with sports injuries, eating disorders and performance related issues.

Lorraine received her Certificate of Training in Child and Adolescent Weight Management from the American Dietetic Association in 2005. She strongly supports Intuitive Eating, a mind-body self-care eating framework, and is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor being among the first group of providers trained in 2007. Her experience in nutrition therapy for both inpatients and outpatients with eating disorders in addition to her expertise in weight-related disorders, bone health and sports nutrition have led to many speaking engagements. She regularly provides lectures and nutrition education seminars to community organizations, teachers, universities, dietitians and other health professionals. Lorraine brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to Healthy Living, where she provides advice on nutrition, consultation and education for children, adolescents and adults who struggle with disordered eating or those simply wanting to improve their health or performance. Her passion for offering sound nutritional guidance, health at every size (HAES) approach, and commitment to using evidence-based information is the foundation of her work with clients in pursuit of a healthy relationship with food and their bodies.
